MERSEYSIDE CYCLING DEVELOPMENT GROUP

SUPPORTED BY LITHERLAND SPORTS PARK

HAVE ARRANGED

WINTER TRAINING SESSIONS

Hello! Everyone,

Hope you are all well, I have a couple issues to bring to your notice, the first, as usual, is the next session of the winter training at Litherland Sports Park a week tomorrow 13th February 2011 at 9am. The format will be almost the same as previous sessions, but I will, if possible, fit in a Turbo session, we have 10 or more Turbo's available, but it would help if you have your own turbo to bring it along in case we have a uptake in numbers and find we haven't enough to go around. Also, we will be a couple of our normal coaches short at this session, but I'm hoping to enlist two replacements so to speak, who I will introduce on the day. As the adults will realize it will be a bit busy, so any help you can give on the day will be appreciated.

Secondly, the date for the rearranged session on 6th March has had to be changed because of a clash of dates. There are no other available dates in March and as the youth racing season starts thereabouts it will have to be on the Sunday following our next session which makes it the 20th February 2011 that gives us two sessions a week apart of which (hopefully) the second will be a form of Go- Ride racing on the circuit.

Hope to see you all there, if you have any problems please get back to me.

The sessions are designed to attract younger riders aged between 10 and 16yrs to an initiative a little different and more involved in other activities than we have tried in the past.

The base will be Litherland Sports Park, with the primary activity taking place in the ‘Activity Suite’ and will figure a keep-fit exercise session that will include floor games, circuit training and turbo/ spinning bike coaching sessions, (Turbo’s/spinning bikes are supplied).

The secondary activity will be a road ride accompanied by qualified British Cycling coaches for those riders experienced to do so, or, the use of the running track for safe ‘on the bike’ coaching for the lesser experience rider.

Refreshments will be provided, but riders should supply their own packed lunch and energy drinks if required. There is changing room and shower facilities, both male and female, with lockers and full bike security also, if required.

The number of spaces is restricted and is on a ‘first come first served’ basis, and I would hope that the same riders would continue through all 5 sessions so their progress could be monitored and assessed.

There will be informal coaching talk time for anything bike. (In the event of poor riding weather, the coaching talks would be more specific).

The plan is to hold 5 sessions from October 2010 through to February 2011

Arrival time at Litherland Sports Park will be 9am for registration, and 9.30am for a prompt start to the activities. There will be a ‘one off payment of £5 at session one. (£1.00 per session)

All riders will need a completed parental consent form to take part (I will supply a blank if you required one). I would like you to book a place through me by email or phone barrywarriner@blueyonder.co.uk  0151 428 6455. Please contact me if you have a question on any of the above, all in the age range that can ride a bike can apply.
