Merseyside Wheelers is now in its Eightieth year as a cycling club. Many of today's members are of the veteran age group, and we would welcome some fresh, younger blood into the club.
The club organizes a Road Race and time trial events, and other events throughout the spring, summer and autumn, and some members also take part in Audax and DATC events.
Weekly meetings are held on Monday evenings from 20:15 at Knowsley Village Hall, by the Village Green at the junction of School Lane and Knowsley Lane.
Starting life as The Merseyside Touring Club in 1933, changing to The Merseyside Touring and Racing Club in 1935 and becoming The Merseyside Wheelers in 1936. The Founding Fathers were Frank Bickerton, Ted Johnson and Arthur Drury. Club activities were curtailed during the Second World War but by 1946 was as active as ever. A history of the club and its members is currently being written, the first part of which has been published.
